[4/7/2016] Tigers file letter of opinion on April 6 force play

An umpire made a delayed call on a play during a Hanshin-Yomiuri game on April 6. The incident took place in the seventh inning with a runner on first and one out. Ryutaro Umeno hit a pitch to left and Daisuke Nakai made a sliding one-hop catch. Third base umpire Tetsuo Yamaji made a delayed call on the play that resulted in Takashi Toritani, the runner at first, getting thrown out at second on a force.

The Tigers filed a letter of opinion with the commissioner’s office today, asking the league to improve the quality and speed of calls.
