Hiroki Kuroda outing against Hanshin was cut short today. In the fourth inning, Mauro Gomez hit a 0-2 pitch back up the middle that struck Kuroda near the left ankle. The ball ricocheted toward Hector Luna, who fielded it and threw out Gomez at first for the final out of the inning. Kuroda was slow in returning to the dugout and was later replaced by a pinch-hitter.
There are currently no plans to send Kuroda to the hospital for tests. Hiroshima will take a wait-and-see approach.
