[5/24/2016] Seibu Lions to meet with Ernesto Mejia’s agent

The media learned on May 23 that the Seibu Lions are planning to meet Ernesto Mejia’s agent, Peter Greenberg, within the next few days to discuss a possible contract extension.

Greenberg in currently in Japan and attended the Seibu-Lotte game at QVC Marine on May 19 and the Softbank-Seibu game at Seibu Prince Dome on May 22. He spoke to reporters and said Mejia was set to become a free agent after the season. Sanspo seems to think the Lions might be willing to go up to around 600 million yen a year (the same amount they paid Alex Cabrera in 2006 and 2007) to keep him in Saitama and away from other NPB teams.
