He pitched in sixteen games in May and set a new Pacific League record for saves in one month with twelve. He recorded holds after entering games in the ninth inning with the score tied on May 4 against Nippon Ham and May 14 against Orix. He recorded six consecutive perfect saves between May 22 and May 31. He notched his 150th career save on May 31.

He also recorded two home runs in back-to-back games on May 28 and 29.
