The NPB unveiled the winners of this year’s Nihon Seimei Inter-league 2016 awards.
Most Valuable Player (two million yen)
Ryuma Kidokoro – Softbank Hawks
15 G, 22-for-53, .415 AVG (1st), 5 HR (5th), 12 RBI (12th), SB 6 (3rd)
Kidokoro led all hitters with a .415 batting average during Inter-league play. He was also in the top five for home runs and stolen bases.
Nihon Seimei Award (one million yen)
Seiya Suzuki – Hiroshima Carp
16 G, 24-for-63, .381 AVG (3rd), 4 HR, 13 RBI, .714 SLG (3rd)
Suzuki led all Central League hitters with a .381 batting average during Inter-league play. He helped his team finish in third place by hitting game-winning home runs in three consecutive games.
Shohei Otani – Nippon Ham Fighters
0.38 ERA (1st), 3 Wins (1st, tied), 30 SO (2nd)
Otani led all pitchers in ERA and wins. He was also one strikeout away from tying for first.
