Eigoro Mogi hurt his right hand while playing defense in the fifth inning of a game against the Softbank Hawks at kobo Stadium earlier today.
With a runner on first and no out in the fifth inning, Yuichi Honda attempted to steal second base. Mogi got into to apply a tag when Honda’s cleats caught him on the right hand. Blood was visible and he was replaced by Toshihito Abe.

Masataka Nashida told reporters after the game that the cut on Mogi’s hand was fairly large and would most likely require stitches. He also said stitches would require time off the active roster.

Mogi was taken to a hospital in Sendai for tests. He was diagnosed with a laceration on the back of his right hand and received sutures to close the wound. The Rakuten Eagles are expected to take him off the active roster.

Mogi needed sutures to close three lacerations on the back of his right hand.
