Hiroki Kuroda drove in three runs with a double (bases loaded and two out in the sixth inning) during a game against the Yakult Swallows at Mazda Stadium on June 29.
A few notes about the hit:
- It was Kuroda’s first hit of the year (first hit since August 4, 2015, or fifty hitless plate appearances, to be exact).
- He now has eighteen RBI in his NPB career (three in his MLB career).
- It was the first multi-RBI game of his career (including MLB).
- He joined Tadashi Wakabayshi (forty-two years, July 26, 1950) and Masahiro Yamamoto (forty-one years, August 12, 2006) as the only players in NPB history to record three RBI in one game during the year they turned forty-one or older. Wakayabashi and Kuroda are the only two players that recorded all three RBI in one at bat (fourth inning, no out, bases loaded).
