[7/25/2016] Hiroya Shimamoto picks up first career win with one pitch

Hiroya Shimamoto picked up his first NPB victory with one pitch during a relief appearance against the Hiroshima Carp at Mazda Stadium on July 24.

Shomamoto became:

  • the fortieth pitcher (accomplished forty-one times) to record a win with one pitch, first since Norihito Kaneto on June 25, 2016.
  • the fourth Hanshin pitcher to record a win with one pitch. The other three: Tatsuhiro Yuminaga on October 21, 1993; Minoru Kasai on August 3, 2000; and Kazuyuki Kaneda on July 22, 2014.
  • the seventh pitcher to record their first career victory with one pitch, first since Takaaki Yokoyama on August 30, 2014.
  • the first pitcher in Hanshin franchise history to record their first career victory with one pitch.
  • the second pitcher selected in the Ikusei draft to record their first career victory with one pitch. The other: Mizuki Tsuchida on June 15, 2014.
