The Hiroshima Carp are planning to take Akitake Okada off the active roster because of discomfort in his right shoulder.
Okada started a game against the Yomiuri Giants at Mazda Stadium on August 7. He retired the side in order in the first and did not allow a run in the second, despite giving up two hits. He ran into some problems in the third inning (loss of velocity, lack of control) and walked two consecutive batters before he gave up a three-run home run to Shinnosuke Abe. His day was over after the third inning.
Okada told reporters after his outing that he tweaked his shoulder while pitching in the third inning.
