[8/9/2016] Motonobu Tanishige to step down due to performance

Motonobu Tanishige and Chunichi Dragons’ President Takao Sasaki held a press conference at Nagoya Dome earlier today. Sasaki told the media he approached Tanishige and asked that he take responsibility for the team’s performance by taking a step back from his duties as manager. The former catcher accepted his request. He is currently in the third year of a four-year contract.

Fielding Coach Takahiro Saeki will also be taking a step back from his duties. Head Coach Shigekazu Mori will take over as interim manager, effective today.

  • Ni-gun General/Infield Coach Hatsuhiko Tsuji to Ichi-gun Strategy/Fielding Coach
  • Ni-gun Fielding Coach Kazuo Hayakawa to Ichi-gun Fielding Coach
  • Ichi-gun Infield Coach Hiroyuki Watanabe to Ni-gun
