Dayan Viciedo hurt his left ankle during tonight’s game against the Hanshin Tigers at Kyocera Dome. Viciedo made a nice catch on a pop fly behind first base by Fumihito Haraguchi in the eight inning. However, as soon as he gloved the ball, Shuhei Takahshi, who was playing second for the first time in his career, crashed into him from behind. Viciedo twisted his left ankle as he feel forward. He was in pain and could not get up immediately. He was able to get onto the team bus on his own after the game, but with some difficulty. The Chunichi Dragons are planning to wait until tomorrow to see how is feeling before making any decisions on what to do next.
[UPDATE 8/14 @ 8:38pm]
Viciedo was taken off the active roster today with pain in his left ankle. He was not seen at Kyocera Dome and likely returned to Nagoya.
