[8/25/2016] Takuya Furuya to miss three months with thumb fracture

Daikan Yoh hit a ball that struck Takuya Furuya left hand in the third inning of Thursday night’s game between the Nippon Ham Fighters and Chiba Lotte Marines at QVC Marine. Furuya attempted to get the out at first, but he made a bad throw and the ball rolled out to foul territory. Yoh kept running and made it to third.

Furuya was removed from the game after the play and taken to a hospital in Narashino, Chiba for tests. He was diagnosed with a fracture in the first metacarpal (thumb) on his left hand and will most likely require about three months for a full recovery.
