Yusuke Nomura hurt his left ankle when he attempted to field a bunt in the sixth inning of Friday night’s game against the Chunichi Dragons at Nagoya Dome. With runners on first and third and two out in the sixth, Masahiro Araki hit a bunt toward third. Nomura tried to field the ball, but twisted his left ankle in the process. He left the field for treatment and was unable to return. He is considered day-to-day.

The Carp are hopeful that Nomura will be okay to make his next start on September 2 against Yakult at Jingu Stadium. He did not participate in practices today and was examined at a hospital in Hiroshima.

Nomura got an MRI on August 28. No abnormalities were discovered. He is currently expected to make his next start on September 2.
