[8/31/2016] Yuya Fukui misses start with neck pain

Yuya Fukui was scratched from his start against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Mazda Stadium on August 31 due to pain in his neck. Kazuki Yabuta was named as a last-minute replacement.

Fukui was on the field preparing for his start until about 17:35.

[UPDATE 9/1 @ 2:12am]

Fukui felt discomfort in his neck on August 30. The discomfort turned to pain during a bullpen session on August 31. He was taken to a hospital in Hiroshima during the game. He will be checked out by the team doctor on September 1. The Carp are planning to take him off the active roster.

Fukui was diagnosed with paraspinal muscle fasciitis (inflammation) and will begin a rehab program tomorrow.
