Toru Hosokawa stole second during Saturday’s game against the Rakuten Eagles at kobo Stadium and hurt his leg. He reached base on a single to left in the third inning and stole second as Akira Nakamura struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch. Hosokawa managed to steal his first base in five years, but also hurt his right leg in the process (near the hamstring). He left the field for treatment and was ultimately replaced by a pinch-runner.
[UPDATE 9/4 @ 12:24pm]
Hosokawa was taken to a hospital in Sendai during the game and was diagnosed with a minor strain in his right biceps femoris. He will be taken off the active roster today. He will require about ten days for a full recovery.
