[9/13/2016] Hanshin Tigers looking for help overseas

The Hanshin Tigers are looking to sign a new foreign player for the 2017 season. A number of reports were filed today.

Nikkan Sports: There is a good chance Matt Hague will not return next season. The Tigers are looking for a middle of the order bat. They considered Alex Guerrero this year and are again considering him for next year. They believe he might succeed in Japan because he does not try to pull everything. Officials will be checking film for a number of players, including Guerrero’s.

Sanspo: The Tigers are serious about signing a power bat. The free agent market is an option, but there is no guarantee the players they want will be available. The Tigers are apparently talking about Carlos Gomez, but he might be priced out of their range. Sanspo asked Gomez about Japan and he appeared to be open about the possibility, but his primary focus is the MLB. He also mentioned that he once got an offer from Japan about seven years ago.

Sports Hochi: The Tigers have apparently narrowed down their options to about ten players playing in the United States and Korea. Eric Thames could be one of them. He is currently playing for the NC Dinos in Korea.
