[9/18/2016] Tetsuto Yamada records second straight 100 RBI season

Tetsuto Yamada pushed his RBI total to 100 during a game against the Yomiuri Giants at Tokyo Dome on September 17. In doing so, he became just the fourth Yakult Swallow to drive in 100 runs in two or more seasons. The other three: Roberto Petagine with 112 in 1999 and 127 in 2001; Alex Ramirez with 124 in 2003, 110 in 2004, 104 in 2005, 112 in 2006, and 122 in 2007; and Akinori Iwamura with 103 in 2004 and 102 in 2005.

Yamada also became just the third player in NPB history to record two 100 RBI seasons by the year they turned twenty-four. The other two: Sadaharu Oh with 106 in 1963 at twenty-three and 119 in 1964 at twenty-four; and Hideki Matsui with 102 in 1997 at twenty-three and 100 in 1998 at twenty-four.
