Thirty-eight-year-old Masaru Takeda is thinking about retiring after the season. Takeda spoke to team officials in Sapporo on September 17 and discussed plans for 2017. He may have been told the team is going with younger pitchers.
Meanwhile, thirty-seven-year-old Hisashi Takeda is not yet ready to call it quits. He had surgery on his right knee in March 2015 and surgeries on both knees in August of the same year. He finally made it back to the active roster on September 15. He will most likely stay with the Nippon Ham Fighters.
