The Hanshin Tigers might be getting ready to offer Randy Messenger a two-year extension.
Messenger is currently thirty-five. Age might be a concern, but he has managed to pitch at least 185 innings in each of his last five seasons. He is also slated to earn his domestic free agent option next year, which means he will lose his foreign player status in 2018 (second year of the contract). All things considered, not a bad risk to take.
