[10/3/2016] Yuki Yanagita records single in Phoenix League game

Yuki Yanagita (right ring finger) played in a Phoenix League game against Rakuten today. He got the start in center and batted fourth. He recorded a single to left in the second inning. He made it back to first head-first on two pick-off attempts, then stole second. The game ended after the second inning because of rain.

Yanagita was slated to play the game at designated hitter, but was shifted to center because there is a chance tomorrow’s game will be rained out.

Yanagita made the starting line-up in center and batted lead-off against Seibu on October 4. He handled six opportunities in center field without any difficulties and made a strong throw to home and nailed a runner trying to score from second. He was moved to designated hitter in the sixth. He went 2-for-5 at the plate with a stolen base.

Yanagita joined the Ichi-gun game for practices on October 6 and played in an intra-squad game. He got the start in center and batted third. He went 1-for-2 with a walk and was caught trying to steal second.
