[10/4/2016] Mateo to stay, Gomez, Satterwhite on hold

According to Nikkan Sports, the Hanshin Tigers are checking the overseas market for a closer and a power bat. Potential candidates will be compared against Mauro Gomez, Cody Satterwhite, and Marcos Mateo.

Regardless of outcome, the Tigers will most likely offer Mateo a new contract since it will be easier to find one good pitcher on the overseas market, instead of two. Hanshin was also impressed with his performance down the stretch: he allowed just two runs in thirty games between June and the end of the season. Keeping Mateo will also act as insurance if they are unable to find a suitable reliever on the overseas market.

The Tigers will most likely hold off on making decisions on Gomez and Satterwhite for the time being. Rafael Dolis, Matt Hague, and Nelson Perez are not expected to return next year.
