Orix Buffaloes’ official Ryuzo Setoyama left for the United States on October 12 to meet US-based scouts Greg LaRocca and Dennis Houlton. The group is expected to go over players and create a list of candidates on the overseas market. Shigetoshi Hasegawa might also join the discussion — he is scheduled to join the front office as an adviser.
The Buffaloes are also planning to give at least four foreign players — Darryl George and three pitchers — a tryout during fall camp in Kochi in November.
George played for the BC League’s Niigata Ablirex this year. He went 75-for-228 in sixty-three games and recorded nineteen doubles, three triples, nine home runs, and eighteen stolen bases. He also drove in fifty-seven runs, struck out thirty-one times, and walked forty-one times.

Ryan Evans is one of the three foreign pitchers that will be trying out with the Buffaloes during fall camp. He has not played baseball for three years and restarted about five months ago.
