This is a great signing by Yomiuri. Caminero is a proven major leaguer with second highest average fastball speed in MLB last year after only Aroldis Chapman. His main problem in MLB is command, not unlike Marc Kroon and Dennis Sarfate, who are now 1st and 2nd all-time for career NPB saves by a foreign pitcher. The difference between Camerino and Kroon and Sarfate is the Camerino has had more MLB success. Shohei Otani is the only pitcher in NPB with a fastball like Camerino’s, so Camerino should be able to challenge NPB hitters with great success.
