Ryoma Nishikawa left today’s game against the Yakult Swallows after he fouled a pitch off his right leg, near the knee, during his at bat in the sixth inning. He was unable to stand up and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. He was later taken to a hospital in Hiroshima for tests.

Nishikawa was diagnosed with a bruised knee. He is not scheduled to play during an upcoming three-game series against Rakuten that begins on March 14.

Nishikawa was re-examined at a hospital in Hiroshima on March 14. An MRI revealed that he had a bone contusion on his right knee. He will need two to three weeks of treatment.
