[4/14/2017] Shota Takeda taken off active roster

Shota Takeda was taken off the active roster on April 14 with discomfort in his right shoulder. He was examined at a hospital in Fukuoka and diagnosed with inflammation. His arm will be shut down for the time being.

Takeda could be out for over a month. His right arm will be shut down for a week to ten days. After that, he will resume playing catch, then move on to pitching practices, then finally Ni-gun rehab games.

[UPDATE 5/11 @ 6:03pm]

Takeda started playing light catch (about twenty meters) at the Chikugo facilities today. Assuming no setbacks, he could toss a bullpen session some time later week and pitch in his first rehab game before the end of the month. He hopes to make it back to the active roster during Inter-league play.

Takeda has already tossed a bullpen session at the Chikugo facilities and played catch on May 30. He tossed another bullpen session today. Assuming no problems, he could toss batting practice this week and move on to a rehab game next week.

[UPDATE 6/1 @ 6:56pm]

Takeda is expected to pitch in at least two rehab games at Ni-gun. He is currently scheduled to throw about fifty pitches against Nippon Ham on June 3. Assuming no problems, he might be ready to return to the active roster during a Hiroshima series that begins on June 16.

Takeda started a Ni-gun rehab game against Nippon Ham on June 3. He pitched three innings and allowed a run on one hit. He faced eleven, walked one, hit one, and struck out one. He faced the minimum in the second and third innings.

Takeda started a Ni-gun game against Hanshin on June 10. He tossed four shutout innings, allowed three hits, walked two, struck out six, and topped out at 149km/h. He is expected to get at least one more start at Ni-gun.

Takeda might be ready to return to the active roster some time during the Nippon Ham at YafuOku Dome series that begins on June 27.
