[4/16/2017] Shintaro Fujinami taken off active roster with flu

Shintaro Fujinami developed a fever and was taken to a hospital in Nishinomiya where he was diagnosed with influenza A. He was taken off the active roster.

Hayata Ito was called up to take Fujinami’s spot on the active roster.

Pitching coach Isao Koda told reporters on April 17 that he heard Fujinami’s fever was lower than the day before. The pitcher will continue to rest at home until he is feeling better.

Fujinami is scheduled to resume practices at the Naruohama facilities on April 20.

Fujinami resumed practices today. He played some catch and did some running in the morning. He participated in fielding practices in the afternoon.

[UPDATE 4/22 @ 4:08pm]

Fujinami worked out at Naruohama on April 22. He threw forty-eight pitches in the bullpen. He told reporters it was a normal session and that he felt fine.
