[6/4/2017] Alex Guerrero’s home run streak ends at six

Alex Guerrero pushed his home run streak to six games with a home run off Frank Herrmann in the ninth inning of Saturday’s (June 3) game against the Rakuten Eagles at Nagoya Dome. He became the first Chunichi player to hit a home run in six straight games. The streak ended today (0-for-3 with a walk).

The previous franchise record for most number of consecutive games with at least one home run was five, held by Yasunori Oshima (1979), Ken Macha (1984), Hiromitsu Ochiai (1989), Yasuaki Taiho (1996), Kosuke Fukudome (2003), and Tyrone Woods (2005).

Guerrero also:

  • joined Rick Lancelotti (1987) as the only players to hit home runs in six consecutive games during their first year in the NPB.
  • became the first player to hit nothing but solo home runs during the streak.

The NPB record for most number of consecutive games with at least one home run is seven, held by Sadaharu Oh (1972) and Randy Bass (1986).
