Kyoda is the first rookie since the start of the draft in 1966 to record multiple-hits in six consecutive games (between June 3 and June 9: three, two, two, three, three, two). The previous record of five was held by four players: Nobuhiro Takashiro in 1979, Hiromichi Ishige in 1981, Yoshinori Ogata in 2004, and Hisayoshi Chono in 2010.

Kyoda recorded his 100th hit of the season on July 27 against Yakult at Jingu Stadium (ninety-one games, 371 plate appearances). He became the first rookie to record 100 hits since Hanshin’s Shun Takayama in 2016 and the first Chunichi rookie since Kosuke Fukudome in 1999.

Kyodo notched the first five-hit game of his career on August 9, 2017 against Hiroshima at Nagoya Dome. He is just the second rookie to record five hits in a game since the start of the draft. The other was Tsuyoshi Oshita on August 30, 1967.
