[6/29/2017] Preliminary Information and Concept Art for new Nippon Ham stadium

The Nippon Ham Fighters and parent company Nippon Ham unveiled preliminary information and concept art for their new stadium today. Their goal is to create a facility that can become a symbol of Hokkaido and a cornerstone of the community. They want to help promote wellness and health through sport and food.

Nippon Ham is ultimately hoping to create Asia’s number one ballpark.

  • What is the point of the silver roof portion behind the 3rd-base side stands?
    At first I thought it might be a retractable roof, but then thought maybe not.
    The should consider a retractable roof there, it’s been great here in Seattle, and I believe the climate in Hokkaido is similar.
    I know it’s expensive, but if they want to be Asia’s number one ballpark, it would make a much better experience for early and late-season games.

      I don’t think it was mentioned in their post, but there are media articles that indicate the Fighters want natural grass and a retractable roof.
