Takeya Nakamura complained of tightness in his lower back after a game on August 15. He missed yesterday’s (August 16) game and was taken off the active roster today. Hatsuhiko Tsuji told reporters they felt it made more sense to give Nakamura ten days to rest and recover than to leave him on the active roster.
[UPDATE 9/5 @ 3:26pm]
Nakamura played in a Ni-gun rehab game against Rakuten on September 4. He started at designated hitter and batted clean-up. He went 0-for-3 and had no problems with his back (he was slated for two plate appearances and asked for a third). He is hoping to make it back to the active roster this month, maybe as early as September 8.
