November 21 @ 12:26 – Batting Practice Pitcher Kazuharu Yamazaki will not be returning in 2018.

October 25 @ 01:27 – Kakefu’s title could be executive adviser to the owner. His job will most likely begin on January 1, 2018.

Senior Adviser Wada will become a technical adviser, effective November 1, 2017.

October 23 @ 22:49 – Kakefu is scheduled to meet team officials on October 27 about becoming an adviser to the owner (an official title is still pending). He is expected to accept the job offer. The Tigers will make an official announcement on the same day.

October 23 @ 21:15 – The Tigers announced the addition of two new coaches to their staff:

  • Yuya Ando – Ikusei coach
  • Ryota Arai – Ikusei coach

October 23 @ 16:04 – The Tigers held press conferences for Ando and Arai today. Ando was named Ikusei coach and assigned the uniform number 86. Arai was also named Ikusei coach and assigned the uniform number 83.

October 22 @ 17:20 – The Tigers announced today that they added Yuya Ando and Ryota Arai to their coaching staff. A press conference is scheduled for October 23.

October 21 @ 16:45 – The Tigers are planning to offer (or may have already offered) Kanemoto a new three-year contract. They are also planning to offer Ryota Arai a job as Ni-gun Ikusei coach (hitting).

Other changes that are expected to be made:

  • Yano – Ichi-gun strategy/battery coach > Ni-gun manager
  • Kataoka – Ichi-gun hitting coach > Ichi-gun head coach/hitting coach
  • Nobuhiro Takashiro – Ichi-gun head coach > strategy coach
  • Shinobu Fukuhara – Ikusei coach > Ni-gun pitching coach
  • Akihito Fujii – Ikusei coach > Ni-gun battery coach

October 3 @ 23:46 – Senior Adviser Yutaka Wada might be reassigned to a job in the scouting department since Masayuki Kakefu will most likely be given some sort of an adviser role.

September 30 @ 05:13 – The Tigers announced on September 29 that the following coaches will not be returning next year:

  • Hideo Furuya, Ni-gun chief position player/Ikusei coach
  • Yasuo Kubo, Ni-gun chief pitching coach

They also announced the following reassignment:

  • Katsuhiko Yamada, Ni-gun battery coach -> Ni-gun interim manager

September 24 @ 16:16 – The media learned on September 23 that Imaoka will be leaving the team after the season. He has already submitted a notice to the Tigers. Imaoka could end up getting a job with the Chiba Lotte Marines.

September 19 @ 12:04 – Kanemoto will continue to have full reign over his coaching staff next year. Candidates for Ni-gun manager include Yano, Imaoka, and Ichi-gun batting coach Atsushi Kataoka. The Tigers are hoping to narrow down their options by the time the Ni-gun team plays its last game of the season on September 28.

September 12 @ 15:27 – Ichi-gun Strategy / Battery Coach Akihiro Yano and Ni-gun Hitting Coach Makoto Imaoka are candidates for the Ni-gun manager job. Yano might be the front runner based on Tomoaki Kanemoto’s coaching methods.
