Mori was invited to be a part of the Samurai Japan top team for the Asia Pro Yakyu Championship, but Seibu turned down the invite because they want him to focus on improving his skills as a catcher. Mori is set to play winter ball in Australia.

Mori moved out of the Seibu Lions dormitory and started living on his own about a year ago. He relied on gyudon for weight gain and overdid it a bit — his weight went up to eighty-six kilograms. Mori is planning to cut back the gyudon and focus on vegetables to lose about three kilograms during the winter. The weight loss should help take some of the strain off his knees.
