Twenty-year-old Julius Higuma had surgery to clean out his left elbow in August last year and Tommy John surgery on the same elbow earlier this year in June. The Yakult Swallows senryokugaied him after the regular season in October. On Friday (November 24), Higuma reached an agreement to return to the Swallows as an Ikusei player. His uniform number will change from 48 to 119. His salary will be an estimated four million yen (down 800,000 yen from this year).
Higuma is currently rehabbing his elbow. He is able to play catch at a distance of about forty meters. He could be ready for rehab games in May or June next year.
