2018

August 8 vs Chunichi at Mazda Stadium – Nakazaki notched his twenty-sixth save of the season and the 100th save of his career. He became the thirtieth player in NPB history (fourth in Carp history, behind Katsuhiro Nagakawa, Yutaka Ono, and Shinji Sasaoka) to reach the 100 save milestone. At twenty-five years and eleven months, he became the third youngest in NPB history to record 100 saves, after Shun Yamaguchi (twenty-five years and one month) and Yasuaki Yamasaki (twenty-five years and six months). He is the youngest to record 100 saves in Carp history.

Miscellaneous

2017

Nakazaki is planning to include workouts as a starter after the 2017 season because he does not want to be “typecast” as a pitcher that can only pitch out of the bullpen. He also wants to increase his opportunities as a player and be prepared for change.

Weight

  • Nakazaki’s fat content is about twenty-four to twenty-five percent. His goal is to drop it down to around twenty percent for the 2018 season. He is also aiming to increase his muscle mass from sixty-eight to at least seventy kilograms. Source: Sponichi 12/23/2017
