[12/14/2017] Yakult Swallows interested in David Huff

The Yakult Swallows are interested in thirty-three-year-old pitcher David Huff. The Swallows have a chance after talks between the pitcher and the KBO’s LG ended without an agreement. Huff pitched in nineteen games for LG this year and went 6-4 with a 2.38 ERA.

mykbo.net reports that the LG Twins paid David Huff $1.2 million last season. If contract talks between the Twins and Huff are over, then the Swallows could reasonable sign Huff for $1.3 million or $1.4 million for 2018. Maybe less, since NPB would now be Huff’s last chance at this kind of money. Huff made only 17 starts last year for the Twins, and KBO teams likely expect at least 25 starts from their foreign pitchers before handing out a raise in any amount, given KBO revenue streams.

I’m going to give myself a pat on the back because Yakyu DB is now reporting that Huff signed with the Swallows for $1.3 million plus incentives. I hope he now pitches well for Yakult and stays healthy.
