Daisuke Matsuzaka got a start against the Yomiuri Giants on April 5. He gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks over five innings of work and took a loss. He faced twenty-six hitters, threw ninety-six pitches, and struck out five. It was his first regular season start on Japanese soil since September 26, 2006.
The Chunichi Dragons removed Matsuzaka from the active roster on April 6, most likely because he is not scheduled to pitch within the next ten days.
