The Seibu Lions beat the Orix Buffaloes 6-3 today and extended their winning streak to seven games (Yusei Kikuchi, Shinsaburo Tawata, Brian Wolfe, Ken Togame, Fabio Castillo, Kikuchi, and Tawata). This is the first time the franchise started a season with a winning streak of seven or more games since 1991.
All seven victories during the streak have been recorded by the starting pitcher. The Lions set a new franchise record yesterday and tied the NPB record today (longest winning streak to start a season where all victories were recorded by the starting pitcher). The previous record of five was set in 1956, 1966, and 1990.
