Tsuyoshi Ueda, Yakult (First Time)
September 4 vs Chunichi at Jingu Stadium. Bottom of the 11th inning, score tied at nine. Ueda hit a walk-off home run to right-center.
The Swallows gave up a 3-0 lead in the first inning and allowed three more runs in the second. They pushed back with a run in the second and two runs in the fourth, but the Chunichi Dragons answered back and held a six-run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Swallows scratched back and tied the game at nine with the help of a pinch-hit two-run home run by Shinichi Takeuchi. The score remain tied at nine until the bottom of the 11th. With runners on first and second and two out, Ueda blasted a three-run home run to right-center.
This was the second walk-off home run of Ueda’s career. He hit his first walk-off home run on June 22, 2014.
Hiroyuki Nakajima, Seibu (First Time)
September 1 vs Seibu at Kyocera Dome Osaka. Bottom of the ninth inning, down 8-7. Nakajima blasted the first walk-off home run of his career.
The Seibu Lions put up five runs in the third and had a seven run lead after four full innings. The Buffaloes chipped away at the lead with two runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings. Stefen Romero led off the bottom of the ninth with a single to left. Masataka Yoshida followed with a double to left-center. With runners on second and third, Nakajima smashed a three-run home run to left.
Nakajima recorded the seventh walk-off hit (first since August 12, 2018) and first walk-off home run of his career.
