Tadahito Iguchi was named the recipient of the twentieth Golden Spirit Award. Sadaharu Oh and Sadaaki Yoshimura were selected for special awards. An award ceremony will be held in Tokyo on December 4.
Iguchi started getting involved in local communities just before he turned pro. He has donated wheelchairs (forty-two), AED devices (six), and time and money to various facilities and organizations during a career in baseball that has spanned more than twenty years. He set up baseball clinics, visited hospitals, and provided support during the Eastern Japan Earthquake through Ai Kikin, a charitable organization he helped create when he was a member of the Daiei Hawks.
