Commissioner Awards

Special Award

  • Hitoki Iwase (Chunichi)
    * first pitcher to appear in 1,000 games.

Umpire Awards

  • Best Umpire – Katsumi Manabe
  • Honorable Mention – Kazuyuki Shirai

Pacific League Awards

Manager of the Year

  • Hatsuhiko Tsuji (Seibu)
    * he managed the Lions to their first pennant in ten years during his second year as manager.

Achievement Award

  • Kazuo Matsui (Seibu)
    * for his contributions to the league over his career.

Central League Awards

Manager of the Year

  • Koichi Ogata (Hiroshima)
    * he guided the Carp the their third straight pennant.

Special Award

  • Tetsuto Yamada (Yakult)
    * he recorded the third triple-three of his career.

Achievement Award

  • Takahiro Arai (Hiroshima)
    * for his accomplishment as a Central League lifer (2,000 hits, 300 home runs, MVP in 2016).
  • Toshiya Sugiuchi (Yomiuri) * from both leagues
    * for his accomplishments over his career, including 142 career wins and a no-hitter in 2012.
  • Tetsuya Yamaguchi (Yomiuri)
    * Yomiuri lifer (thirteen years), first Ikusei rookie, first to record 200 holds, sixty or more games over nine consecutive seasons.
  • Hitoki Iwase (Chunichi)
    * Chunichi lifer (twenty years), fifty or more games over fifteen consecutive seasons, first to pitch in 1,000 games, topped 400 saves.
  • Masahiro Araki (Chunichi)
    * Chunichi lifer (twenty-two years), for his accomplishments on the base paths and on defense. He topped 2000 hits in 2017.

Comeback Award

  • Daisuke Matsuzaka (Chunichi)
    * Left for the MLB in 2007, returned to the NPB with Softbank in 2014. He pitched in just one game between 2014 and 2017. He helped solidify the Chunichi rotation this year.
