[11/20/2018] Hideto Asamura planning to sign with the Rakuten Eagles

Hideto Asamura has reportedly informed the Rakuten Eagles that he wants to make Sendai his new home. Asamura has also informed the Orix Buffaloes, Softbank Hawks, and Seibu Lions about his plans to sign with another team. The Eagles could make a formal announcement of a deal some time soon.

  • Seibu offer – four meetings, including November 19 (started at three years and 1.5 billion yen and went up to four years and 2.0 billion yen)
  • November 16 – Met Softbank (four years and around 2.8 billion yen)
  • November 18 – Met Rakuten (four years and over 2.0 billion yen)
  • November 19 – Turned down Orix before even one meeting (four years and between 1.6 and 2.0 billion yen)
  • November 20 – Turned down Softbank via e-mail
  • November 20 (evening) – Turned down Seibu (Asamura contacted the team directly)

The Eagles held a press conference for Asamura on December 1. He was assigned the uniform number 3. According to various media reports, Asamura agreed to a four-year deal worth an estimated 2.0 to 2.4 billion yen in total.
