Canberra Cavalry’s Steve Kent is slated to workout with the Yokohama Bay Stars for about two weeks during spring camp next month. The twenty-nine-year-old Kent went 7-1 with a 2.90 ERA (0.97 WHIP) and seventy-six strikeouts (to thirteen walks) over sixty-two innings for the ABL’s Canberra this season. The Bay Stars have no immediate openings on their roster, but could be looking at options for next year and beyond.

The Bay Stars announced that Kent and Steven Chambers will participate in their spring camp workouts between February 14 and 26. From an article posted on the theABL.com.au:
Cavalry Ace and Canberra- born Starting Pitcher Steve Kent will join Spring Training with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars this week in Okinawa, Japan, showcasing his skills in front of BayStars coaches and executives. Kent will join the NPB club’s Spring Training camp for two weeks from 14 February to 27 February.
Cavalry Starting Pitcher Steve Chambers will also attend Spring Training with the BayStars, serving as both Japanese language interpreter and player participant.
