[7/7/2016] Samurai Japan Collegiate Team: four-day mini-camp, day 2

The Samurai Japan collegiate team started a mini camp in Hiratsuka on July 6 (ends on July 9). They are scheduled to play three practice games before the Japan-USA University Baseball Championship begins in July 12. They played their first practice game on July 7 against Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Yokohama at Batting Palace Soseki Stadium Hiratsuka.

The Tokyo Big 6 released the roster of players that will be participating in this year’s Honkbal Week Haarlem (Haarlem Baseball Week) between July 15 and 24.

[6/19/2016] Samurai Japan Collegiate Team: three-day mini-camp, day 2

Yuya Yanagi started the game for the Whites and gave up two runs in two innings of work.

Koya Mizuno relieved Yanagi and tossed two perfect innings.

Haruhiro Hamaguchi started the game for the Reds and gave up a run in two innings of work. He topped out at 147km/h.

Yota Kyoda batted eighth for the Reds.

  • Chihiro Onishi ran the 50-meter in 5.66 seconds on June 18. It was the best time for position players.

[6/18/2016] Samurai Japan Collegiate Team: three-day mini-camp, day 1

A three-day mini-camp for the Japan-USA University Baseball Championship began on June 17. Players participated in an intra-squad/batting practice game on the first day. There are currently fifty candidates for the roster. The final roster of twenty-four will be released after the three-day mini-camp.

Fifty scouts from twelve Japan and US teams were at the game. (Or, according to Sanspo, fifty-one scouts from ten NPB teams, not including Yomiuri and Yakult.)

Kohei Miyadai started the game for the Whites. He gave up a run on three hits over two innings of work. He topped out at 148km/h.

  • 1st inning: 1B9 (SB), Ks, Kl, F8.
  • 2nd inning: F7, BB, 1B8, 2B8 (runner thrown out at home), WP-F7.

Shotaro Kasahara enterd the game in the seventh inning for the Whites. He did not allow any hits over two innings of work, but did walk two. He topped out at 147km/h.

Ichiro Tamura started the game for the Reds. He tossed two shutout innings and topped out at 149km/h.

Chihaya Sasaki relieved Tamura and threw two perfect innings in relief. He topped out at 152km/h.

[6/12/2016] JUBF Samurai Japan Preliminary Roster Update

The All Japan University Baseball Federation released a list of candidate players that will be participating in a mini-camp for the Japan-USA University Baseball Championship. The mini-camp will take place at the Batting Palace Soseki Stadium Hiratsuka between June 17 (Friday) and 19 (Sunday). The final roster will be made up of twenty-four players.
