Nine TV cameras and about 100 reporters covered practices before tonight’s game.

Gates for non-reserved infield seats opened at 14:45, fifteen minutes earlier than usual.

The Carp recorded their eightieth victory last night, a first in franchise history. They were the only team in the NPB without an eighty-win season.

Unfortunately for the Carp, they could not clinch tonight.

The best would be for the Giants to beat the Swallows tomorrow, which would give the Carp a shot at clinching over the weekend against the Giants at Tokyo Dome.

The Carp began taking apart the celebration area The 4800 bottles of beer and two barrels of sake were removed from the celebration area some time during the seventh inning, after the Giants finalized their victory over the Tigers. The Carp are now making preparations for a celebration at their hotel in Tokyo.

If the Carp clinch first place on their day off today, they will celebrate with beer, but will save doage celebrations (tossing people into the air) until they return to Mazda Stadium on September 15. If they clinch over the weekend, they will perform doage celebrations on the field.

Team owner Hajime Matsuda will be in Tokyo for an owner meeting on September 12. He will arrive in Tokyo on September 11.

The players watched tonight’s Yomiuri-Yakult game at Jingu Stadium in a big room at their hotel.

Hiroki Kuroda will have the chance to help the team clinch tomorrow night. The Giants will be going with Miles Mikolas.

The Carp set up a celebration space at their hotel’s indoor parking garage on September 9. They are using an area about fifty parking spaces large and about two meters high. They prepared 4,800 bottles of beer at Mazda Stadium, but only 3,000 for the possible celebration in Tokyo.

That was freaking amazing… Kuroda was in tears, truly a wonderful moment to remember. Will be rooting for the Koi to win it all this postseason!
