Okay, I found this while searching the outlets non-Romaji style of Ichiro’s name, so er… yeah, I might need some help with this cause I can’t understand much of it. I asked some of the guys I knew about this and what they said was that the statement means “Shut up, Pete Rose!!”, was it correct? I just need to make sure and this is probably the only place I know where to go. Thanks.

Yes, this basically translates to, “Rose, keep quiet!!” or “Rose, shut it!!” or “Rose, shut up!!”

I read the online version and there is no mention about who said the quote. It’s possible no one did, and the media took the liberty to sum up everyone’s comments into one general phrase. But to provide the quote with some background:

The media asked a bunch of players before Rakuten-Yomiuri game at Tokyo Dome about their thoughts on Ichiro’s record, which includes recent comments made by Pete Rose. Shigeo Nagashima, Shinnosuke Abe, Shuichi Murata, Garrett Jones, and Scott Mathieson were approached for comments. Of the five, Mathieson seemed the most bothered by Rose’s comments and said, “The one thing you can say is that Ichiro is loved all around the world and he’s a lock for the Hall of Fame in both the United States and Japan. What can you say about Pete Rose?”

BTW, the article I read by be found here.
