Yuki Yanagita tied Sadaharu Oh’s 1970 NPB record with a walk in his eighteenth straight game.

He now has twenty-five walks in eighteen games.

Nikkan Sports and Sanspo have a couple interesting facts about the two streaks:

  • Oh recorded twenty-seven walks during his streak (June 17-July 15, 1970). Fifteen were walks on four pitches (includes six intentional walks). Oh was 20-for-51 with eleven home runs during the streak.
  • Yanagita has so far recorded twenty-five walks during his streak. Only three were on four pitches (including one intentional walk). Fifteen were walks after the count went full. Yanagita was 16-for-60 with two home runs during the streak.

[4/19/2016] Hanshin Tigers replace Hague with Dolis

Matt Hague was taken off the active roster on April 18 for two reasons: his struggles at the plate (1-for-20 with two strikeouts and three walks in his last seven games) and to make room for Rafael Dolis.

Had Hague been hitting well, the Tigers may have had a more difficult decision to make with Dolis. As it stands, they get to replace a slumping bat with an extra arm to bolster the bullpen.
