The tentative plan was for Shinnosuke Abe (right shoulder) to begin playing in rehab games at Ni-gun at catcher and make a return to the active roster in early-May. Unfortunately, he suffered a setback when he started feeling discomfort in his right shoulder on April 15. He has not done any throwing since then. He could resume throwing next week, but it might be a month before he is ready for a return.

Yudai Ono (left elbow inflammation) resumed playing catch on April 22 at Nagoya Stadium. He started throwing into a net about ten meters away during workouts indoors on April 21 (around fifty throws). He played catch at a distance of about fifteen meters for roughly ten minutes outdoors on April 22. Ono told reporters he felt fine. He could pitch in his first rehab game at Ni-gun in mid-May.0 Comments

Tsuyoshi Wada recorded a 5-0 shutout victory against the Chiba Lotte Marines at QVC Marine on April 20. It was the ninth shutout victory of his NPB career, first since September 21, 2011 (Orix at Kyocera Dome). Wada recorded his first career shutout against Lotte at QVC Marine on April 16, 2003. He joined Masanori Murakami (five), Masato Yoshii (one), Kazuhisa Ishii (three), and Hiroki Kuroda (one) as the only pitchers to record a shutout after returning to Japan from the MLB.
