Daisuke Matsuzaka will most likely start a Ni-gun game against Chunichi at Chikugo on April 20. He made his first appearance in about a month on April 14 and pitched a shutout inning in relief. He played catch on April 15 and felt fine. Softbank is planning to have Matsuzaka pitch in a game at least once a week.

Hikaru Ito was taken off the active roster on April 15 because the coaching staff was unhappy with his work behind the plate. In the five games he made the starting line-up at catcher so far this year, the Buffaloes were 0-5.
Shun Takayama was left out of the starting line-up on April 16 for the first time this year. He did not participate in pre-game batting or fielding practice. Hector Luna hurt his right hamstring while scoring from second in the third inning against Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome. He was replaced on defense before the bottom of the third inning. The Carp will wait to make a decision on Luna until after they have had a chance to see how he is feeling tomorrow.
