Mike Bolsinger gave up two runs on four hits during the first inning of Saturday’s game against the Rakuten Eagles. He threw warm-ups before the start of the second inning, but was replaced by a reliever. The media later learned that the Chiba Lotte Marines pulled Bolsinger because he was having problems with the ring and pinky fingers on his right hand. He is considered day-to-day.

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced on August 18 that twenty-nine-year-old Masaki Minami had surgery to treat the ossification of the yellow ligament at a hospital in was examined at a hospital in Narashino, Chiba on August 17. He might require about six months for a full recovery.
Minami pitched in thirty-five games this season and was 2-2 with six holds. He was taken off the active roster on July 21 with numbness in his legs.
The Marines released the following statement from Minami:
I will soon start what I imagine will be a very difficult rehab program, but I will do my best so that I can pitch off the mound at ZOZO Marine once more. Please continue to root for me.
Ayumu Ishikawa had trouble throwing at full strength during his start against Softbank on July 24 (two runs, two innings). He continued to have problems during his next start against Nippon Ham on July 31 (ten runs, 0.2 innings). The Chiba Lotte Marines were concerned about fatigue and decided to skip him once in the rotation. The media recently learned that Ishikawa’s return will be delayed because he sprained his right ankle while running at Lotte Urawa Stadium on August 4. He might need about three weeks for a full recovery.

Ishikawa resumed throwing in the bullpen on August 25. He threw thirty-five pitches and is scheduled for another session on August 26. Assuming no setbacks, he might be able to return to the active roster some time next month.
