[7/5/2018] Yamato taken off active roster

Yamato sat out yesterday’s game against the Yomiuri Giants at Tokyo Dome because of tightness in his back (or pain in his left side). He was taken off the active roster today after discussing his condition with team staff. The Yokohama Bay Stars are hoping Yamato will be able to return in the minimum ten days.

[7/5/2018] Yokohama Bay Stars reach agreement with Yuhei Nakaushiro

The Yokohama Bay Stars announced they reached an agreement with Yuhei Nakaushiro on July 4. They held a press conference earlier today to introduce him to the media. He was assigned the uniform number 91. According to media reports, the two sides agreed on a deal worth an estimated five million yen.

The Yokohama Bay Stars reached one million in attendance during their thirty-sixth home game of the year on July 1 and set a new franchise record. The previous record of thirty-seven home games was set last season.



[7/1/2018] Jose Lopez taken off active roster with hamstring discomfort

Jose Lopez tweaked his right hamstring while running the bases in the fourth inning of a game against the Hiroshima Carp on June 30. He was taken off the active roster today with discomfort in hamstring. The Bay Stars feel he should be able to return in the minimum ten days.

Shoichi Ino: Did You Know



July 1 vs Ni-gun Nippon Ham at Yokosuka – Ino became the twenty-third pitcher (accomplished twenty-four times) in Eastern League history to toss a no-hitter. He carried a perfect game through five full innings.

Keita Sano: Did You Know



June 29 vs Hiroshima at Yokohama Stadium – Sano notched the first walk-off hit of his career. With the score tied at three and runners on first and second and one out, Sano hit a pinch-hit walk-off double to right off Makoto Aduwa.

[6/23/2018] Yokohama interested in Yuhei Nakaushiro

The Yokohama Bay Stars are interested in twenty-eight-year-old pitcher Yuhei Nakaushiro. They want a chance to see him live and are planning to evaluate him during a private tryout.

Nakaushiro has been participating in Ni-gun practices at Bay Stars Stadium in Yokosuka, Kanagawa since June 26. He threw twenty-five pitches in the bullpen on June 27.

Nakaushiro tossed batting practice to Hyuma Matsui, Toi Kamei and Taishi Kusumoto on June 29. He faced seven batters, threw nineteen pitches, allowed one could-be hit, recorded four infield grounders, struck out two, and topped out at 144km/h.

[6/18/2018] Joe Wieland taken off active roster

Joe Wieland was taken off the active roster on June 17. Alex Ramirez told reporters he did not have all the information, but heard that Wieland felt discomfort in his upper body, near his waist.

[6/15/2018] Yoshitomo Tsutsugo misses game with upper body tightness

Yoshitomo Tsutsugo was left out of the starting line-up against Orix on June 15 because of tightness in his upper body (right side or back, depending on source). He is not expected to require time off the active roster and is considered day-to-day.

Tsutsugo returned to the starting line-up on June 22 after he started five straight on the bench. He hit a home run on June 24, his first since June 10.

[6/12/2018] Yamato gets hit by batted ball during pre-game practices

Yamato was hit in the head by a batted ball during pre-game practices at ZOZO Marine Stadium today. He was taken to a hospital in Narashino, Chiba for tests. There were no abnormalities. Yamato later returned to the stadium after the start of the game and told reporters he was fine. He will undergo additional tests tomorrow.

Yamato was penciled in to get the start at short against Lotte today. While chasing after a fly ball hit behind him, a batted ball hit him near the back of the head and neck.

Yamato was re-examined at a hospital in Yokohama on June 13. No abnormalities were discovered. He was able to participate in regular practices later in the day. He could return to the starting line-up today.
